1st European AAV Patient Summit
A joint effort between CSL Vifor and Vasculitis International.
We were trying to identify key challenges associated with AAV and its management at every step of the way.
Collaboratively we tried to conceptualise valuable ideas to support both people living with AAV and physicians in overcoming them.
Identifying the key challenges associated with AAV
About the project
The AAV Summit was the result of a dialogue between CSL Vifor and Vasculitis International to further discuss the needs of both patients and doctors in the diagnosis, treatment and aftercare of patients with AAV. It was a logical follow up of the SeeMe HearMe project in which we jointly developed educational material about this disease.
This time we wanted to dig a bit deeper into identifying the key challenges and unmet needs from both the physician and the patient perspective.
It was a very succesful 1,5 days and all participant expressed their hope to be able to have such a summit once every two years, preferably in between two Scientific Vasculitis Workshops as being held in Dublin in 2022 and as will be held in Barcelona early 2024.
our contribution
We approached all our member organizations and brought together 20 doctors and patients from 8 different countries to discuss these challenges.
One of the key results was to see if in the near future we can get (specialized) nurses more involved in the treatment and after care of vasculitis patients in general and AAV patients in particular.
The plan is to make this the key topic of our next Summit in 2024.
